Creating an Online Course with Direct Support from Industry Professionals: Case “Concepting Reality Television”

In the summer of 2015, an online course called “Concepting Reality Television” was held on the Eliademy MOOC platform. This course was created as part of the OnCreate EU funded project, and it was held in collaboration between the Tampere University of Applied Sciences, Finland (TAMK) and the University of Magdeburg, Germany. The course was structured and held in a way that made it possible to have active feedback from professionals of the media industry, notably the European Broadcast Union and the public broadcasters RTE and YLE from the beginning to the end. This presentation gives an inside view to the course conception and experiences, as well as an outlook to future activities at the intersection of university education and professional training.
Carita Forsgren, born 1968. MA in Communication Design 1994, Universität Essen, Germany,two years of architecture studies at TUT, Finland, vocational teacher education at TAOKK, Finland. She speaks Finnish (mother tongue), German (mother tongue), English, Swedish, French & Spanish (basics), Japanese & Chinese (rudimentary).
Forsgren is Senior lecturer of visual design at the Tampere University of Applied Sciences, Finland, entrepreneur, author of four novels: Kolmen kuun kuningatar (Otava 2009), Auringon kehrä (Otava 2010), Jänistanssi (Otava 2011), Perintö (Otava 2012)
